1sf World Congress of Planning Schools - Shanghaï 11 - 17th July 2001

Shanghaï, Sunday, l5th July 2001,

Representatives of national and international planning education associations gathered at Tongji university in Shanghai, agreed on the goal of increasing mutual communication in order to improve the quality and visibility of planning and planning education. To achieve this, it was agreed to establish a global planning education association network and committee to plan holding the second WPSC and to develop an inclusive communication network.

The associations represented were:

• The Association of Canadian Univ. Planning Programs (ACUPP)
• The Association of Collegiate Schools of Planning (USA) (ACSP)
• The Association of European Schools of Planning (AESOP)
• The Association of Schools of Planning, Indonesia
• The Australian & New Zealand Association of Planning Schools (ANZAPS)
• The Interior Coordination Committee for the Revitalization of Planning Education in Africa
• The Latin-America Association of Schools of Urbanism and Planning (ALEUP)
• The National Association of Post-graduate Programs Research in Urban & Regional Planning (Brazil) (ANPUR)
• The French International Association of Planning Schools (APERAU)

The resolution has been signed in English and in Chinese.

The associations further agreed:

that the second World Planning School Congress would be hold in the year 2006, that the various planning school associations would have until becember 2001 to endorse and join the preparations for the 2nd WPSC; and that a call for proposals to host the 2nd WPSC would be issued by December 2002.

Finally, it was agreed that the Congress website would remain on operation, providing follow up information on tht Congress and links to other planning school association resources, until it can be replaced by a more permanent international planning school association web facility.

Les représentants des associations nationales et internationales d'enseignement de l'aménagement réunis à l'université Tongji de Shanghai ont convenu de s'efforcer d'améliorer la communication entre leurs organismes afin d'améliorer la qualité et la reconnaissance de l'aménagement et de l'enseignement de l'aménagement. Pour y arriver, il a été convenu d'établir un réseau et commité global d'associations d'enseignement de l'aménagement, dans le but de préparer le second congrès mondial des écoles d'aménagement et développer un réseau de communication exhaustif.

• L'Association des écoles d'urbanisme et d'aménagement d'Amérique latine
• L'Association nationale des programmes de recherches de troisième cycle en aménagement urbain et régional (Brésil)
• L'Association pour la promotion de l'enseignement et de la recherche en aménagement et urbanisme

La résolution a été adoptée en anglais et en chinois.

Les associations ont aussi convenu :

Que le Second congrès mondial des écoles d'aménagement sera tenu en 2006, que les différentes écoles d'aménagement auront jusqu'en décembre 2001 pour adhérer et participer aux préparatifs du 2nd CMEA; et qu'un appel d'offre pour l'organisation du 2nd CMEA sera émis en décembre 2002.

En dernier lieu, il a été convenu que le site Web du Congrès demeurera en opération afin d'offrir des informations mises à jour sur le Congrès, et des références sur les ressources offertes par les différentes associations d'écoles d'aménagement, jusqu'à ce qu'une infrastructure Web internationale plus durable le remplace.
